AWS Media Services

Media Services as the name implies is all about managing media content such as audio and video.  The services' functions include capture, processing, transcoding, broadcast, and live streaming.

Here are the services under this category.

Elastic Transcoder
       - Amazon Elastic Transcoder lets you convert digital media stored in Amazon S3 into audio and video codecs and the containers required by consumer playback devices.  For example, you can convert large, high-quality digital media files into formats that users can play back on mobile devices, tablets, web browsers, and connected televisions. 

Kinesis Video Streams
       - Capture, process, and store video streams for analytics and machine learning. Amazon Kinesis Video Streams is a fully managed AWS service that you can use to stream live video from devices to the AWS Cloud, or build applications for real-time video processing or batch-oriented video analytics.

MediaConvert
       - AWS Elemental Media Convert is a file-based video conversion service that transforms media into formats required for traditional broadcast and for internet streaming to multi-screen devices. 

MediaLive
       - AWS Elemental MediaLive is a video service that lets you easily create live outputs for broadcast and streaming delivery.

MediaPackage
       - Easily Prepare and protect video for live and on-demand delivery to internet devices.  AWS Elemental MediaPackage reliably prepares and protects your video for delivery over the internet.  From a single video input, AWS Elemental MediaPackage creates video streams formatted to play on connected TVs, mobile phones, computers, tablets, and game consoles. It makes it easy to implement popular video features for viewers (start-over, pause, rewind, etc.), like those commonly found on DVRs.  AWS Elemental MediaPackage can also protect your content using Digital Rights Management (DRM).  AWS Elemental MediaPackage scales automatically in response to load, so your viewers will always get a great experience without you having to accurately predict in advance the capacity you'll need.

MediaStore
       - AWS Elemental MediaStore is an AWS storage service optimized for media.  It gives you the performance, consistency, and low latency required to deliver live and on-demand video content at scale.

MediaTailor
       - AWS Elemental MediaTailor lets you serve targeted ads to viewers while maintaining broadcast quality in over-the-top (OTT) video applications.

MediaConnect
       - AWS Elemental MediaConnect is a reliable, secure, and flexible transport service for live video.  Using AWS Elemental MediaConnect, broadcasters ad content owners can cost-effectively send high-value live content into the cloud, securely transmit it to partners for distribution, and replicate it to multiple destinations around the globe.

AWS End User Computing

The End User Computing category comprises of services which cater to Workstation Services needs.  It provides virtualized computer terminals as well as an Application Streaming service in a client-server setup. Here are the two services that are currently in this category. WorkSpaces        - Amazon Workspaces enables you to provision virtual, cloud-based Microsoft Windows desktops for your users, known as WorkSpaces.  It eliminates the need to procure and deploy hardware or install complex software.  You can quickly add or remove users as your needs change.  Users can access their virtual desktops from multiple devices or web browsers.        - Virtual terminals (VDI).  A way of having your desktop in the cloud. How to create an AWS free-tier account

Creating an AWS account isn't all that difficult.  This should be your 2nd step in your AWS journey.  The first being a clear familiarization of the various AWS services and their functions.  If you are not at all familiar with any of them, I would suggest you check out my previous posts which briefly discusses the various core services available in AWS then come back here to create your AWS account.
